Is the $500 session refundable?
It’s a credit applied on the day toward your purchase. If you choose not to purchase, the session fee covers the hosted tasting experience. No refunds.
Who can attend the session?
Your Barrelhouse Selection Session is for two adults (18+). Bring a designated driver if needed. We keep pours small (10–15 ml)—this is a selection, not a round at the pub.
Where are the sessions held?
At one of our four NSW Barrelhouses: Sydney, South Coast, Hunter Valley, Central Tablelands. We’ll confirm the site after your Flavour Finder.
Can we do this off-site?
Yes—choose a couriered tasting kit + live video (AUS only; 18+ ID on delivery). Same Top-Two Face-Off method, same decision.
How many samples do we taste?
Up to 8 tailored pours, curated from 2,500+ mature NSW casks to match your brief—diverse across cask type, age, and ABV.
How do we decide on the day?
We run a Top-Two Face-Off: your two favourites side-by-side. The Whisky with the better finish and better story for your label wins. If it’s still a tie, we pick the one you’d be proud to pour twice.
Do we add water?
Often yes. A few drops can unlock fruit, oak or spice. We taste both ways and choose the version you’d actually serve.
What exactly do we learn?
A fast barrelhouse masterclass: NSW whisky history, how to taste (Whisky Pete’s four-step method), making & maturation basics, and how cask/age/ABV shape flavour. You leave knowing why your Whisky tastes the way it does—and how to explain it.
What if we need internal sign-off?
Use Priority Hold: 10% deposit (or $500, whichever’s higher) for up to 7 days—credited if you proceed, non-refundable if you pass. Holds keep momentum tight.
What are the payment terms?
Bottles (< full cask): full payment on the day of selection (labels-only ≈ 7 days).
Full/Multi-cask: 20% hold → 50% label proof → 30% dispatch.
Excise included in per-bottle pricing.
How fast is delivery?
Labels-only ≈ 7 days from label approval. Rush 72-hour slots are limited. Custom packaging usually 3–6 weeks.
How do we receive the bottles?
Hand-delivered by Whisky Pete within 2 hours of Sydney metro (whole batch) or pickup. Optional individual bottle shipping AU-wide at $25 per unit (add-on). Default is one delivery location.
Can we choose ABV?
Yes—43–46% (balanced), 46–50% (richer), or 50%+ (bold/cask strength), depending on the cask and your comfort. We’re hunting for the perfect balance between sweet & heat.
Can we use our own brand?
Yes—private label or co-brand. We’ll capture tasting notes and your story in-session to shape the label copy.
How many bottles can we do?
From 12 bottles up to full casks and multi-cask programs. We can plan yield, timing and rollouts.
What’s the typical full-cask yield?
It varies by age, cask size and loss to the angel’s share. We’ll estimate yield at selection and confirm at bottling.
What’s included in labels-only vs custom?
Labels-only: standard bottle/closure; one custom front/back label concept; compliance handled; cartonised.
Custom packaging: bottle shape options, upgraded labels/closures/wax, one concept + one revision (extra rounds available).
Can we photograph/film the session?
Quietly, yes—no faces of other guests or staff without permission. Hands/tools and cask details are perfect.
What should we wear/bring?
Closed-toe shoes, no strong perfume/cologne (it fights the nose). Water provided; light palate cleansers included.
Are minors or pets allowed?
No. 18+ only inside working barrelhouses. Pets aren’t permitted onsite.
What if we arrive intoxicated?
We operate under responsible service. If you’re intoxicated, we’ll reschedule at our discretion and the session fee may be forfeited.
Is everything legal/compliant?
Yes. Bottling is completed at licensed partner warehouses under their licences and applicable regulations. Please enjoy responsibly.
Do you ship internationally?
Not at this time. Australia-wide shipping is available (add-on, $25 per unit for individual addresses).
What happens if something breaks in transit?
Bottles are insured. Photograph the damage within 48 hours and contact us; we’ll arrange a replacement or remedy.
Can we reschedule the session?
Yes—please give 48 hours’ notice. Peak periods fill quickly; we’ll offer the nearest available slot.
Do you invoice/accept POs?
Yes—tax invoices provided; POs accepted for approved corporate clients.
